This custom made spool locks both wheels together as one unit. It is the strongest configuration available for rear ends. Corvette spools for the 65-79 Corvette are not available anywhere else! This hand turned spool fits 1965-79 Corvette rear ends with the 8 1/2 inch ring gear and measure 7 7/8" between the bearing caps. It is made to fit the series 3 gears 3:08, 3:36, 3:55, 3:73, 3:90. You can also install the thick U.S. Gear with the 4:11, 4:31, and 4:56 gear ratios. These do not fit the 63-64 rear ends that measure 7 1/2" between the bearing caps and have the 8.2" gear. Keep in mind you may not have the original case in your Corvette or we can supply you with the case you need. Our spools use the ultra strong 30 spline inner axles that are available on this site. The weaker stock 17 spline side yokes will not fit. Rotating mass in the carrier is reduced by 8 1/2 lbs with the spool shown here and 10 1/2 with our lightened spool.
